HISTORY

Beacon House Primary Health Care Centre is a project of Beacon House Ministries (Registered Charity No. 1055109). Beacon House Ministries is an interdenominational Christian Trust that was established in 1996 to help homeless people and those in insecure accommodation with health and related issues.

We opened in a converted three storey house (90, East Hill, Colchester) close to the centre of Colchester. During 2003, through the generosity of our supporters and grant making trusts, we have been able to double our size by purchasing outright the house next door (No.91). The new building was officially opened on July 1 2003 by the Mayor of Colchester, Dr C. Hall. The extra space has enabled us to increase the services we offer to the clients and our storage areas. In September 2004 we extended our opening hours to 5 days a week.

Due to loss of funding in 2005 we had to cut back services, reduce our services and opening hours.
